Gorge Crest Vineyards was established in 2005 and harvested its first grapes during the fall of 2007. The vineyard was designed by Rick Ensminger, the manager of Celilo Vineyards. Celilo borders Gorge Crest and is now ranked as one of the Top Ten Wineries in the State of Washington. Ensminger is known throughout the Washington wine industry as a pioneer and expert on higher altitude, late season, varietals.

Gorge Crest Vineyards is meticulously managed to generate lower yields of the highest quality grapes. Yields are carefully regulated through a combination of canopy design and aggressive pruning. The vineyard will supplement its production in its early years through its grower’s contract with Celilo Vineyards, in Underwood, Washington. Gorge Crest will also supplement its production with grapes from the Columbia Gorge Appellation.
